POIC-Radon Filtering of Near-offset Multiples

چکیده

The primary only imaging condition (POIC) can effectively remove some of the migration artifacts generated by multiple energy in the far-offset data. The multiples predicted by a POIC filter in the far-offset data are used to predict and eliminate the near-offset multiples in the τ−p domain with the Radon transform. The hybrid algorithm is tested on a simple synthetic example and the 2-D SMAART JV. Pluto 1.5 dataset which is associated with a complicated velocity model. Results indicate that this approach is effective in predicting and attenuating some of the surface related multiples. The POIC image with both near and far-offset data has higher image resolution than the one obtained with just the far-offset data. The high resolution Radon transform is helpful in improving the resolution in the τ−p domain so that the performance of the hybrid approach can also be improved.

Relative performance of moveout-based multiple-suppression methods for amplitude variation with offset (AVO) analysis and common midpoint (CMP) stacking

We apply three moveout-based methods for multiple suppression to simple synthetic common midpoint (CMP) gathers and compare their performance in terms of level of multiple rejection and, more importantly, in terms of (1) suitability of processed output for use in analysis of amplitude variations with offset (AVO), (2) primary-to-multiple amplitude (p/m) ratio of the data after CMP stacking, and...

A Generalized Deconvolution Approach for Local Radon Transforms

A chief problem in seismic data processing is the filtering of unwanted events like ground roll and multiples. Methods to deal with this problem often exploit moveout or curvature differences between offending events and the events one would like to preserve (primaries). In particular, removal of multiples based on moveout discrimination can be attained via parabolic and hyperbolic Radon transf...

A comparison of three multiple-attenuation methods for a Gulf of Mexico dataset

Three multiple attenuation techniques are tested on a Gulf of Mexico dataset. These methods are (1) a hyperbolic Radon transform followed by a mute (2), the Delft approach and (3), a pattern-based technique. The Radon transform separates multiples and primaries according to their moveout. The Delft approach models the multiples and subtracts them by estimating adaptive filters. The pattern-base...

Multiple attenuation in the image space

Multiples can be suppressed in the angle-domain image space after migration. For a given velocity model, primaries and multiples have different angle-domain moveout and, therefore, can be separated using techniques similar to the ones employed in the data space prior to migration. We use Radon transforms in the image space to discriminate between primaries and multiples and employ accurate func...

Prestack multiple attenuation using the hyperbolic Radon transform A comparison of inversion schemes

I apply the iterative hyperbolic Radon transform to CMP gathers to create a velocity panel where multiples and primaries are separable. The velocity panel is created using three different inversion schemes: (1) l2 norm inversion, (2) l1 norm inversion and (3) l1 norm with l1 regularization inversion. The third technique is particularly efficient at separating primaries and multiples in the pres...
